Blog of the Week: Kast-A-Way Blog

Do you remember how back in the day, our parents tried to tell us that the GI Joe and Transformers cartoons were nothing more than a weekly 30-minute advertisement so Hasbro could sell more toys?  And do you remember that as kids we didn’t see it that way at all?  All we saw was the elite special mission force awesomeness!  Right?

Well, now I am all grown up, and sadly I made the assumption that the Kast-A-Way blog would be nothing but a promotional site to sell more swimsuits… but it didn't take me long to become a loyal reader, as I quickly realized I was dead wrong.  I now see the awesomeness.  It is all that and so much more.

Eric Teske is a customer service rep. at the Kast-A-Way swimwear headquarters in Cincinnati.  He was a diver at Miami University in Ohio who now holds a B.S. in Exercise Science and an M.S. in Sports Behavior and Performance.  His blog is great not only because of his high level of knowledge and enthusiasm for aquatic sports, but because Eric also keeps up with world swimming news as quickly as anyone can, has a wicked sense of humor, and has the Photoshop skills to back it all up.

For example, while several news outlets are reporting that Eamon Sullivan and Garrett Weber-Gale like to cook, Eric takes the time to suggest that they should duke it out on tv, compared some of their racing stats, and even made a pretty cool promotional picture to go with it. And while we were all arguing about technology and whether it was ruining our sport , Eric was busy on his computer giving us ideas on how to get our money worth on the shiny suits now that we can’t race in them.  The list goes on.

If you haven’t visited the Kast-A-Way blog yet, go there and rss it.  Even if you get your swim news from other sources, you will always be able to appreciate Eric Teske’s take on it.  Check out his archives at www.kastawayblog.com.
